The Process

How Ordering Works From Denver

We do not have a showroom in Colorado, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we have is forty-five years of building shutters, a direct line to the people who make them, and a process that works over the phone.

01

Request your quote

Submit the form below or call us. Tell us what you are working with: window count, rough sizes, shutters or closet doors, painted or stained.

02

Measure with us on the phone

We walk you through measuring each opening, step by step, the same sequence our own designers use in California homes. You confirm every measurement in writing before anything is built.

03

We build in Colton

Your shutters are built from whole basswood in our California workshop, finished in your color, and inspected before they leave the building.

04

Freight to your door

We arrange freight with you directly and quote it with your order. Panels arrive finished and ready to install, by you or an installer you choose.

What You Can Order

Two Product Lines. One Standard.

White whole basswood split rail shutters with independent top and bottom louver control by Elizabeth Shutters

Custom Interior Shutters

The construction standard is closer to cabinetry than to window coverings. Panels that close without light gaps, built to hold their tolerances for decades.

  • 100% whole basswood, never finger-jointed, never composite
  • Louver sizes from 2.5" to 5.5", matched to your windows and rooms
  • Painted or stained in any color, premium acrylic finishes
  • Specialty shapes: arches, angles, French doors, sliding glass doors
  • Built to the exact measurements of each opening

Custom Closet Doors

Built in the same Colton workshop, to the same standard. Doors that glide on ball-bearing hardware instead of grinding on worn rollers.

  • Sliding bypass, bifold, and hinged configurations
  • Solid wood, louvered, shaker, mirrored, and frosted glass panels
  • Premium ball-bearing hardware specified for the actual panel weight
  • Stain-grade whole basswood that matches floors and millwork
  • Built to your opening, not trimmed from a catalog size

Why the Material Matters at Altitude

Denver Is Hard on Lesser Wood. Good.

Dry air, a mile of altitude between your windows and the sun, and temperature swings that move thirty degrees in a day. That is exactly the condition where composite and MDF products drift out of tolerance and glue-joint materials show their seams.

Whole basswood, kiln-dried to the correct moisture content, holds its geometry through that cycling. We have built shutters for Lake Tahoe's altitude and Nevada's high desert for decades. Denver's climate is a problem we already know how to build for.

It is the reason we have built with whole basswood exclusively since 1981.

Before You Order

The Terms, Stated Plainly

Custom work shipped across state lines deserves clear terms before you order, not fine print after. Here is where we stand.

Clause 01Your measurements are the build

Every order is built to the measurements you provide and confirm in writing. We guide you through measuring by phone, step by step, and we review every number with you before production begins. Because we cannot visit your home to verify the openings, responsibility for the accuracy of provided measurements rests with you. Errors in customer-provided measurements are not covered by warranty, and a remake is quoted as a new order.

Clause 02Custom products are final sale

Each panel is built for one specific opening in your home. It cannot go back on a shelf, because there is no shelf. Once production begins, orders cannot be cancelled, returned, or refunded. This is standard for made-to-order work, and it is why we confirm every detail with you in writing first.

Clause 03Shipping is arranged with you directly

Freight for full shutter and door panels is quoted individually with your order, based on your location and the size of the shipment. We discuss it with you directly, in plain numbers, before you commit. Shipping charges are not refundable.

Clause 04Inspect at delivery

Freight shipments must be inspected when they arrive. Note any visible damage on the delivery receipt before the driver leaves, photograph it, keep all packaging, and contact us within 48 hours. Damage reported this way is handled with the carrier and we assist through that process. Damage reported after the window, or without notation on the delivery receipt, generally cannot be claimed.

Clause 05Warranty

Our shutters carry a limited lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship, backed by the same company that built them. The written warranty terms for shipped orders are provided with your quote. The warranty does not cover customer measurement errors, improper installation, freight damage not reported at delivery, or normal wear.

Straight Answers

Questions Denver Homeowners Ask

Can I really order custom shutters without an in-home consultation?

Yes. The measuring process happens over the phone with our team guiding you through each opening, the same sequence our own designers use in California homes. You confirm every measurement in writing before we build. Thousands of windows have taught us exactly where measuring goes wrong, and we walk you past every one of those spots.

Who installs the shutters in Denver?

You do, or an installer you hire locally. Panels arrive finished, with hardware, built to fit the openings you measured. Installation is straightforward carpentry work for a competent handyman or finish carpenter. We are available by phone during your installation if a question comes up.

How long does an order take?

Production typically runs 4 to 6 weeks from confirmed measurements and design approval. Freight transit time is quoted with your order and added on top. We give you the full timeline in writing before you commit.

What does shipping cost to Denver?

Freight is quoted individually because it depends on the number of panels, their sizes, and your delivery address. We discuss it with you directly and the number is in your quote before you decide anything. No surprises after the fact.

What if I measure wrong?

This is the honest risk of ordering remotely, which is why we do not let you measure alone. We guide every measurement by phone and review the numbers together before production. If a customer-provided measurement is still wrong, the remake is quoted as new work. It is not covered by warranty, and we tell you that up front because you deserve to know it before you order, not after.

Why buy from California instead of a Denver shutter company?

Buy from whoever builds the better product. Most local shutter companies are dealers selling panels manufactured somewhere else, often finger-jointed wood or composite sold under friendlier names. We manufacture every panel ourselves from whole basswood and have since 1981. When you call, you reach the company that built your shutters, not a sales office.
